Van Gaal: De Jong deserves hundreds of millions of euros
Barcelona - Speculation on the future of Frenkie de Jong received a response from the Dutch national team coach, Louis van Gaal. He considered the Barcelona player deserved an expensive price.
De Jong is widely reported with a move to Manchester United. The new manager of MU, Erik ten Hag, wants to bring in the Dutch midfielder who is also his former subordinate at Ajax Amsterdam.
Barcelona reportedly did not mind releasing De Jong in order to help balance the club's balance sheet. However, Los Cules did not want to release the player at a cheap price.

Barcelona is said to want a total transfer of 100 million euros to release Frenkie de Jong. The fee includes an upfront payment and other bonuses.
The price was obviously very extraordinary, even above the total transfer of De Jong from Ajax to Barcelona in 2019. The Blaugrana at that time recruited De Jong for a dowry of 86 million euros.
Not only that, the price that Barcelona wants for De Jong's services is also far above the market value. Transfermarkt noted, the 25-year-old has a market price of around 60 million euros.
The Dutch national team coach, Louis van Gaal, considers the high price that Barcelona set for De Jong as a natural thing. De Jong admitted that he had the quality to deserve to be paid dearly.

"Frenkie de Jong does bring extra quality, of course. That's why he is also worth 112 million euros," said Louis vs. Gaal, quoted by the Mirror.
Frenkie de Jong has become a vital player in Barcelona's midfield since his arrival in 2019. He has played 140 times in all competitions with 13 goals and 17 assists.
