De Jong is being targeted by Manchester United, De Ligt: He hasn't said that yet...
Amsterdam - Frenkie de Jong is the target of Manchester United this summer. His good friend, Matthijs de Ligt, said he had not been notified.
De Jong threatened to be released by Barcelona this summer. The financial crisis forced the Blaugrana to sell its stars.
Manchester United tried to take advantage of Barcelona's condition to recruit De Jong. Moreover, the Red Devils are now being coached by Erik ten Hag, the midfielder's former coach when he was at Ajax.

Ten Hag, who will take charge of Manchester United next season, put De Jong around while at Ajax. Together the two won the title in the Eredivisie and could advance to the semifinals of the 2018/2019 Champions League season.
De Ligt, who was with De Jong at Ajax, commented on the transfer rumours. The Juventus defender admitted that he had not been informed by his colleague in the Dutch national team.
"He didn't say anything. But he is an extraordinary player and everyone knows that, how important he is to the team," said De Ligt, quoted by the Mirror.
De Jong himself has struggled at Barcelona, since he was recruited in 2019. He has played 140 times and scored 13 goals, having just won the Copa del Rey title.
If it fails to recruit Frenkie de Jong, Manchester United reportedly has prepared another alternative. Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is reportedly ready to be brought to Old Trafford.
