Ziyech and De Jong among four players Manchester United are tipped to sign before deadline
With just three weeks to go until the transfer window shuts, Manchester United are being linked with a plethora of players.
Erik ten Hag has so far brought in three new faces this summer, in Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen. The United boss, though, will be eyeing up plenty more names, with some familiar problems being exposed in their opening day defeat to Brighton.
United still have a number of areas to address — and there’s certainly no shortage of names being touted for a move to Old Trafford at the moment. Here’s a look at the four of the main players being tipped to join United right now, with odds coming from SkyBet.
Hakim Ziyech 2/1
A name that hasn’t really cropped up at all this summer, which may come as a surprise given his connections to Ten Hag. But Ziyech may well be talked about a bit more in the coming weeks.
The 29-year-old has seemingly slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s summer spending, and was an unused substitute in the Blues’ opening win at Everton. With three years still remaining on his contract, though, it’s unlikely he’d be available on the cheap, which might turn United to other forward options.
Antony 9/4
While Ziyech’s name has rarely cropped up this summer, Antony has been a regular fixture in the transfer gossip for United. Ten Hag is keen on a reunion with his former Ajax star, and United are certainly in need of some quality on the right.
Talk of a move to Old Trafford has waned in recent weeks, however, and other names – such as Cody Gakpo – are being touted as alternatives amid Ajax's steep asking price for Antony. Having already sold the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Sebastien Haller and Ryan Gravenberch this summer, the Dutch club aren’t in a position where they need to sell either, so it looks likely the Brazilian may stay put.
Frenkie de Jong 3/1
It’s the saga of the summer for United, and it’s looking more likely than ever as though it may not end how they wanted. The Reds have of course spent all summer chasing the midfielder’s signature, only to be left frustrated.
A decision looks as though it may well be forthcoming, with De Jong’s agents having been spotted in Spain for discussions over his future. Chelsea are still in the mix to potentially scupper United’s plans, with the Blues now the 8/11 favourites to land the Netherlands international.
