Manchester United transfer news and rumours: Summer transfer window 2022
Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda believes that United forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading to Atletico Madrid despite his former ties to Real Madrid.
However, the Daily Mirror reports Atletico president Enrique Cerezo insists the club already has a "wonderful squad".
Meanwhile, the Daily Star says Ronaldo is reportedly willing to take a 30 per cent pay cut on his United wages to force through his exit. but his plans to leave Old Trafford this summer has hit a new low after Barcelona rejected the opportunity to sign him, claim the Mirror.
As of July 24, the Sunday Times report Atletico have placed Antoine Griezmann on the transfer market as part of an attempt to bring Ronaldo back to Spanish football. The Sunday Mirror say United are ready to let Ronaldo leave this summer - but only on loan.
Ten Hag: Ronaldo in my plans and not for sale
Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo is in his Manchester United plans for the season ahead.
The United boss said: "We are planning with Ronaldo for this season - that's it. I'm looking forward to working with him."
Asked if Ronaldo wants to leave, Ten Hag replied: "He hasn't told me this. I have read, but as I say, Cristiano is not for sale, he's in our plans and we want to get success together.
"I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation him and had a real good talk."
Ten Hag on De Jong: Starting tour with all players would've been best
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag admits he would have preferred to have gone into pre-season with a fully equipped squad that would have ideally included Frenkie de Jong.
'De Jong looks set to stay at Barcelona'
Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero on Sky Sports News:
"Man Utd want the player and there was an agreement with FC Barcelona, but the main problem for Man Utd is the player, who likes the tranquillity, obviously he knows Man Utd is a huge club, Ten Hag is an amazing coach, especially for him, but he wants to stay in Spain, in La Liga, at Barcelona, which was his dream.
"The club asked de Jong to leave as they need the money, maybe de Jong has to accept the situation, but he and his agent have explained to Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta that 'I want to stay at the club.'
"And as we have been saying with Kounde and Lewandowski, the player normally gets what he wants and if he wants to stay, then he will stay, sorry for Man Utd fans!"
Man Utd comfortable in De Jong pursuit
Manchester United remain comfortable in their position regarding a potential deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
United have a "broad agreement" with Barcelona on the fee - believed to be €65m (£56m) plus performance-related add-ons.
Chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough continue talks with Barca officials over the transfer, but the deal is problematic because De Jong has backdated wage issues. It is thought he is owed £17m after taking a pay cut during the pandemic.
Man Utd agree £57m deal with Ajax for Martinez
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth up to £57m for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, who is set to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
United will pay a guaranteed €57m (£48.5m) for the Argentina international defender, with an additional €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons agreed between the two clubs. The move will see Martinez link up again with former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag, who signed him for the club in 2019, at Old Trafford.
The deal is still subject to both medical and visa requirements, with completion expected in the coming days, before he puts pen to paper on a five-year contract in Manchester, with the option of a further 12 months, which would take him beyond his 30th birthday.
Man Utd sign midfielder Eriksen on free
Manchester United have completed the signing of Christian Eriksen on a three-year deal following a rigorous medical.
The 30-year-old has strengthened Erik ten Hag's midfield options at Old Trafford after opting against remaining at Brentford, where he enjoyed an impressive stint on loan last season.
Denmark international Eriksen will not join United's pre-season tour of Australia due to the long flight involved from the UK.
Ten Hag: United searching for midfielders and forwards
Erik ten Hag confirmed Manchester United were still looking to do business in the transfer market with midfielders and forwards top of the list.
Sky Sports News was told last week Man United and Barcelona have a "broad agreement" on a fee - believed to be €65m (£56m) plus performance-related add-ons - for Frenkie de Jong.
Ten Hag was not prepared to speak about specific targets but said: "Definitely we are searching for players in the midfield, and also in offence we are still looking for players.
"I never talk about players who are not under contract at Man United, players at different clubs. I cannot tell you anything about this issue.
"We want to have the right players. We have a really good squad, we're working on developing our way of play and if the opportunity is there, we will strike."
Tielemans to discuss Leicester future
Youri Tielemans will sit down to discuss his Leicester City future with manager Brendan Rodgers this week.
He currently has one year left on his existing contract and has consistently refused offers of a new deal.
Arsenal have been long-time admirers of the midfielder but the £34m signing of Fabio Vieira, who plays in a similar role to Tielemans, means they are unlikely to pursue a deal with Leicester right now.
Manchester United and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in Tielemans, though they have yet to make any concrete offers.
Mejbri set to be loaned out to the Championship
Man Utd's Tunisia international Hannibal Mejbri looks set to join a Championship club on loan, with Birmingham, West Brom, Millwall and Middlesbrough all interested in signing the youngster.
The 19-year-old, who made two Premier League appearances last season, featured under Erik ten Hag for the first time against Crystal Palace on United's pre-season tour of Australia on Tuesday.
However, there has been interest from abroad, with Braga and two clubs in Spain also keen on the midfielder.
A decision on where he'll be playing this coming season is expected early next week.
Sky Sports News understands that United have been happy with Mejbri's pre-season training and matches and see him as a bright prospect for the future.
The club hope he will benefit from the experience of playing regular football.
