Jakarta - Good news for Manchester United fans who are still waiting for their favorite club's transfer activity this summer. The first recruits are in sight.
According to a number of British media reports including the Mirror and The Sun, the Red Devils have agreed a transfer of £40 million (around IDR 727 billion) to sign Ajax player Antony.
For Erik ten Hag, who last season coached Ajax, Antony is a figure he knows very well. Last year, the 22-year-old Brazilian player became one of the ten Hag's mainstays in defending the Dutch league title.
The name Antony, who last season made 12 goals and 10 assists from 32 appearances with Ajax, has been widely linked with Man United since Ten Hag officially became the new manager.
According to The Sun's Neil Custis report, Man United are currently in Amsterdam in an effort to finalize Antony's transfer as soon as possible after agreeing on a transfer price.
Judging from his playing position, Antony is an offensive player who usually operates on the right wing. With a more dominant left foot, he is considered to have good speed and movement that is difficult for opponents to guess.
Man United itself struggled to fill the right wing position last season. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga took turns filling the position, but they had a preference for stabs from the left.
Apart from Antony, Man United is also widely linked with Frenkie de Jong, a former Ajax player who now plays at Barcelona. His position in the middle sector is considered crucial considering that the Red Devils do not have players of his type.
